Select a Network dialog box

This dialog box displays information about the current network configuration. Use this dialog box to:

  • Find information about your local configuration.

  • Use a different network adapter on the local computer to capture network data.

Local Computer

A tree control that displays information about one or more network adapters on the local computer. Select the network adapter for which you want to display information.

Properties

This control describes the following information about the network adapter you selected:

  • whether the network configuration supports delayed capture.

  • whether the network configuration supports Expert Stats (ESP interface).

  • whether the network configuration supports real time capture.

  • whether the network configuration supports network statistics.

  • the type of network connection (for example, a dial-up connection).

  • the manufacturer name and model information for the network adapter.

  • the MAC address of your network adapter. This is the address assigned by the manufacturer of the adapter.

  • the current address of your network adapter. Unless the permanent address of the adapter has been overridden, this listing is identical to the MAC address.

  • the Link speed, in bits per second (bps). This is the rate at which you can transfer bits over the network. This information is supplied by the manufacturer of the network adapter.

  • the type of network (for example, Ethernet) to which the network adapter can connect. This information is supplied by the manufacturer of the network adapter.

  • the maximum number of bytes per frame that the selected network adapter can handle. This information is supplied by the manufacturer of the network adapter.

  • whether the network adapter supports promiscuous mode.
