Mailslot Basic

The automated test verifies basic Mailslot File System (MSFS) functionality: creating and opening mailslots, reading and writing messages of various sizes, and closing mailslots. It also verifies the integrity of the messages that are passed via mailslots.

Running the test

Before you run the test, complete the test setup as described in the test requirements: File System Testing Prerequisites.

In addition, this test consists of a client binary (MailSlotClient.exe) and a server binary (MailSlotServer.exe). You should run these on the same computer.

To run this test, follow these steps:

  1. Copy the test binaries that are listed in the File List section locally.

  2. Start the server by running MailSlotServer.exe.

  3. Start the client on the same computer by running MailSlotClient.exe.

  4. The expected Pass count is 5. Inspect the log file for the presence of +SEV error tags. If you do not find any instances of this tag, the test has passed.
