PC99 #3 system uses WC (32-bit)

This automated test determines whether a video driver meets the second PC 98 requirement for video cards ("System Uses WC with Higher-Performance Processors).

The test calls Microsoft® DirectDraw to allocate an off-screen buffer in video memory. The test performs row-wise and column-wise fills of the buffer and computes the ratio of the speed of the row-wise fill to the speed of the column-wise fill. If the buffer is implemented with write-combining, the row-wise fill is significantly faster than the column-wise fill. This test passes if the ratio is greater than or equal to 2.

More Information

Most of the DirectDraw tests (including the Blt - Exotic test) are in Fnddraw.exe. You can run Fnddraw.exe outside the DCT shell, and then select initial tests. On the Tests menu, click Select Tests.

The test titles that are listed in the DCT shell do not directly match the test names in Fnddraw.exe. In fact, the names in the DCT often refer to a group of Fnddraw tests. You can obtain the Fnddraw test names from the DCT log file.

You can pause many Fnddraw tests (especially Blt-related tests) to give you time to visually analyze the Blt results. Use the Pause key to pause and resume.

Use the Esc key to stop a test run. Be patient, because some tests are more responsive than others.

Command Syntax

Command option Description

Fnddraw dd_wc.pro -r -c -p"m%MONITOR%"

Runs the test job. Replace the %MONITOR% parameter with a 1-based index that corresponds to the display that you are testing.
