UPnP Addressing (Windows CE 5.0)
Because all UPnP communication happens over Internet Protocol (IP), a target device must obtain an IP address before it can join a UPnP-enabled network.
UPnP devices can use Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) to retrieve an IP address from a DHCP server. If the network does not have a DHCP server, UPnP devices can use automatic IP addressing to obtain an IP address.
By using IP addresses, a control point can contact UPnP devices that are on the same subnet that the control point is on.
