BASE XHTML Element (Windows Embedded CE 6.0)

The BASE element specifies an explicit URL used to resolve links and references to external sources such as links and images. It is part of the HEAD and not the BODY of a web page. This element does not require a closing tag.

Using this Element

This element can be used within a web page with attributes.

This element can be used within scripts where it will have properties, events and methods.

Attributes

The following table shows items that Internet Explorer Embedded supports.

HREF

URL

Sets the relative baseline URL on which relative links/references are based. For example:

  </head>
  <body>
    <img src="images/screen.gif">
      <ahref="FULL/graphs/latest.htm">
       Click here to see the latest graph.</a>
  </body>
</html>

The SRC will resolve to http://pocketpc.com/browserweb/ images/screen.gif and the HREF will resolve to http://www.southridgevideo.com/browserweb/FULL/graphs/latest.htm.

TARGET

_blank

Causes all opening links to display in a new window.

 

_parent

Causes the immediate parent of the frame to navigate to the HREF.

 

_self

Causes all opening links to display in the same frame.

 

_top

Causes the browser to navigate the “topmost” document to the HREF.
