Тип, который предоставляет разницу между 2 итераторов, которые ссылаются на элементы в один и тот же вектор.

typedef typename Allocator::difference_type difference_type;

Заметки

difference_type также называется число элементов в диапазоне от 2 указателями, поскольку указатель к элементу содержит свой адрес.

итератор чаще используется для доступа к элемент вектора.
