How to: Send Feedback About Visual Studio

You can send feedback about Visual Studio to Microsoft. There are two ways to give feedback. You can send comments by completing an online form and you can participate in the Visual Studio Customer Experience program.

Send Feedback, Report Bugs, Make Suggestions

If you want to provide specific feedback about a feature, report a possible bug, or make feature suggestions, you can do so in Visual Studio. To provide feedback in this way, you must have an active Internet connection and a Passport or Windows Live account.

To send Microsoft specific feedback about Visual Studio

  1. On the Help menu in Visual Studio, click Report a Bug.

The Microsoft Connect Web site appears.

  2. If you have not already done so, click Sign In, and then enter your Microsoft Passport or Windows Live information.

  3. Click Submit a Bug or Suggestion.

  4. Click submit feedback.

  5. Follow the additional instructions to search for existing bugs or suggestions, and then submit your information.

Volunteer to Submit Your Usage Information

You can also choose to participate in the Visual Studio Customer Experience program. This program lets Microsoft track anonymous information about how you use Visual Studio. Microsoft can then use this information to improve the next version of the product. You are automatically prompted to participate in the Customer Experience program the first few times you use Visual Studio. Even if you choose not to participate at that time, you can begin to participate later by completing the following steps.

To participate in the Visual Studio Customer Experience program

  1. On the Help menu, click Customer Feedback Options.

  2. In the Customer Experience Improvement Program dialog box, select Yes, I am willing to participate anonymously in the Customer Experience Improvement Program, and then click OK.

You can stop participating in the Visual Studio Customer Experience program at any time by doing the following.

To stop participation in the Visual Studio Customer Experience program

  1. On the Help menu, click Customer Feedback Options.

  2. In the Customer Experience Improvement Program dialog box, select No, I would not like to participate, and then click OK.
