To change the default Host key
Using the Administration Website
- Open the Administration Website.
- In the navigation pane, under Virtual Machines, point to Configure and then click the appropriate virtual machine.
- On the Status page for your virtual machine, point to the virtual machine name, and then click Turn On.
- Once the virtual machine is turned on, point to the virtual machine name, and then click Remote Control.
- On the Remote Control page, click Remote Control in the upper-right corner, and then click Set Host Key.
- In Choose host key, select an option, and then click OK.
Using the VMRC client
Start the Virtual Machine Remote Control (VMRC) client.
Type the address of the appropriate virtual machine, and then click Connect.
Click the Remote Control menu, and then click Set Host Key.
In Choose host key, select an option, and then click OK.
You can set it to any of the values described in the following table:Value data Description 5D

Incorrectly editing the registry may severely damage your system. Before making changes to the registry, you should back up any valued data on your computer.

Note
For instructions on opening the Administration Website, see "Open the Administration Website" in Related Topics. To start the VMRC client, go to Microsoft Virtual Server in the Start menu, and then click Virtual Machine Remote Control Client. You can change the default value of the Host key from the Right Alt key to any of the other acceptable values for the Host key. The default value of the Host key can be set for each user account on the computer on which the Virtual Machine Remote Control client is installed. The default Host key value is controlled by the following Registry entry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VMRCClient\HostKey.
