Signpost Track Properties
![]() |
The Signpost Track Properties Window contains the following standard tabs:
In addition, the window has the following Audition Settings tab.
This tab is used to set the activity level, which controls the number of connecting chords inserted between signposts in the segment when chords are composed.
If a chordmap contains many chord paths, the activity level setting helps differentiate between them. For example, a chord path with one connecting chord every two or more measures is considered a low-activity chord path. When you choose the Low setting, only chord paths with low activity can be used to fill in the measures between signposts.
The following table shows the intensity level choices and the general tendency for the number of chord changes that are inserted. The distance between the signposts can affect the actual number of chords inserted.
Setting | Effect |
High | Average of two chords per measure. |
Medium High | Average of one chord per measure. |
Medium Low | Average of two chords every three measures. |
Low | Average of one chord every two measures. |
Bypass Activity | Number of chords per measure is ignored. A chord path is selected at random from all chord paths that fit. |
Depending on the number of chords in the chord paths, some activity level settings can result in no chord paths being selected. For example, if all chord paths contain a high number of chords, and you choose a low-activity level, there may be no chord paths that match. The Bypass Activity level ensures that a chord path is selected regardless of the number of chords.
The activity level is saved in the properties for the track within DirectMusic Producer. However, it is not saved in the run-time segment file.
