Placing Signpost Group Markers

Windows Media Encoder SDK banner art

You can place one signpost group marker per measure in the signpost track, in as many measures as you choose, though it is recommended that you spread them out over several measures. You should always place a marker in the first measure. Thereafter, a marker usually occurs every four to eight measures, depending on how frequently you want the chords to change. However, you are free to place them wherever they make the most musical sense.

When chords are composed, signpost chords are drawn from the signpost groups of the chordmap and inserted at the time of the corresponding signpost group markers. If a signpost chord is followed by a chord path that can fit before the next signpost marker, the chord path is also inserted. If no chords in the signpost group have paths that fit, a single chord from the signpost group is inserted and plays until the next signpost group marker arrives.
