providers Element for profile (ASP.NET Settings Schema)

Defines a collection of profile providers for the user profile.

This element is new in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Attributes

Child Elements

Element	Description
add	Optional element. Adds a provider to the collection of profile providers.
clear	Optional element. Removes a provider from the collection of profile providers.
remove	Optional element. Clears all previously defined profile providers from the collection.

Parent Elements

Element	Description
configuration	Specifies the required root element in every configuration file that is used by the common language runtime and the .NET Framework applications.
system.web	Specifies the root element for the ASP.NET configuration section.
profile	Configures the user profile for an application.

Default Configuration

The following default profile element is configured in the Machine.config file in the .NET Framework version 2.0.

Example

The following code example shows how to configure the Web.config file for an ASP.NET application to use a SqlProfileProvider provider.
