What is a Target Expression?
You create target expressions to specify the customers to which you want to target advertisements and discounts. Target expressions can also target request context. For example, target expressions can target the Web site from which the customer is visiting, the current page group, the time of day, or an HTTP cookie. Expressions are a combination of properties, operators, and values that yield a "True" or "False" result upon evaluation.
You create an expression by using the Commerce Server 2009 Expression Builder. You can select from a list of pre-defined targets and operators, and if required, enter a value to be evaluated, such as a number. For example, a target expression might be "Account Class is equal to 10" or "Female User is True".
You can also target content to specific sections of a Web site, called page groups. For example, you can create a target expression that will display certain advertisements only on sports pages.
You can build target expressions to target advertisements and discounts to specific languages and currencies. You use the Expression Builder to select the language to which you want to target your advertisements or discounts.
