Want vs Need

As I explained to a friend last week….do I want an iPad? yeah, sure…I’m a geek after all. Do I NEED one? Not so much…and then this conversation reared it’s head again tonight with @briansolis – lovely device but it misses two real things I need

  1. read vs. create – though you can create on an iPad it seems more suited to reading. am I wrong?
  2. multitasking – one of mat main fuctions on my PC is this, writing blogs. Can I do that easily on an iPad without multi-tasking? I doubt it

    the iPad shines at consuming content, which is what the vast majority of people do.   If your need to create content, then no the iPad is probably not the device for you, for that specific requirment. that's not any great revelation.

    Re point 2....considering multitasking is only a few weeks away.......well...

    Doug L - yep, will be intersted to see how multitasking comes to life in a few weeks. maybe one barrier falls away..
