IOD: Visual Studio Supported RSS Enclosures
Podcasting seems to have everyone hyped up on the possibility of RSS delivered media downloads. In Whidbey we'll have a Visual Studio community download search, but what if Visual Studio subscribed to feeds that automatically gave you some of the latest snippets, help docs, project templates, samples, add-ins, etc? What if you could scope a search feed to match keywords so that you could say "automatically install and notify me of any samples that use the Foobar.Foo method"? Would you make use of such a feature?
Edit Note: To be clear... RSS Enclosures are NOT supported in the current community download mechanism. This is just some outloud thinking.
We do have a cool community download mechanism in whidbey though that I'll make sure we get a demo of our soon.

P.S> Additional idea for post rating. I can sign-up and vote. The same can do others people.
But here is a trick - I can select a few users I trust - and calculate rating average based on their votes - not on total votes.
They can also select others users they trust - and their selection will affect how rating calculated for me.
Example:
TAG (me) trusts Bob, Jane and Will.
Bob trusts UserBob1, UserBob2 .. etc ..
A few users voted on topics.
Now based on trust-distance all votes get some weight. My own vote get weight 1000 for me, votes of Bob, Jane and Will (if any) will get weight 100, votes of Bob users will get weight 10.
Now then it's needed to calculate rating for me - weighted average used.
This will keep needed level of personalization for me - while not asking me to write down all my interests.
This is core idea - it can be improved in a lot of ways ;-)Anonymous
