Vista Economic Impact in Europe : big win for Partners
The IDC have published a report about the economic impact of the release of Windows Vista in Europe. There are some really interesting facts and some of the numbers (Euros) relating to the partner and IT ecosystems are truly staggering. Without posting the entire report I just wanted to callout a few things:
Within Denmark, France, Germany, Poland, Spain & United Kingdom alone:
- Windows Vista is expected to be installed on more than 30 million computers
- In its first year of shipment, Windows Vista-related employment will reach more than 20% of total IT employment, or 1 million jobs
- More than 150,000 companies will produce, sell, or distribute products and services running on Windows Vista
- For every dollar of Microsoft Vista revenue in 2007, the ecosystem beyond Microsoft will reap more than € 13
