RSS: more than just a tool for blogs

Blogging in my team is really gathering momentum and we're finding that more and more people we talk to are understanding the value of RSS feeds (which is a popular way to consume blogs) and how this new medium can help manage the "drinking from a firehose" when it comes to taking on information in this day and age.

At the Exchange 2007, Vista and Office 2007 event we did at the Showcase cinema in Leeds, James Akrigg talked about the benefit of RSS feeds in Sharepoint 2007 and how it was possible to consume almost all types of information in RSS format.  This kind of innovation is perfect when you don't always have your browser open at your Sharepoint site and you want to be alerted to new content via the your RSS reader gadget on the Sidebar.

James also showed off how you can take your Sharepoint collaboration space with you when you are mobile by syncing up Sharepoint Lists in Outlook.  Not only does this allow you to digest and edit content when offline it helps consolidate your communications and work documents in one place - your Inbox.
