@DynamicStuPot: It is not required to remove the existing updates from the "Updates" folder as setup -- copying in the CU3 is sufficient as setup will recognize the newer content and use it during the slipstream installation. That said, you can remove the two previous updates if you so choose -- either way will work.

@Carl Gibson Doing as you suggest adding CU3 to the updates fails, although the install finds CU3 the install fails when using SQL 2012 I have found the if you do the install from the CD by adding & adding DynamicsAX2012-KB2680186 the update for SQL 2012 do the install and then run though the procedure for adding CU3 additionally the install is all ok until you get to your first compile then I find 21 warnings & 1 Task.  Surely there should be no warnings when installing this?

For a new install of AX 2012 I’m assuming the correct procedure is to take the AX2012 Feature pack media remove the 2 updates from the update folder and copy CU3 into the update folder can anyone confirm?

The fix looks only for x86 not for 64 bit.. please let me know if we can use the same for 64 bit

Is this CU also applicable on the AX Feature Pack version?

Hi Archana, We installed CU3 on a system with AX RTM + CU2 and we got around 150 errors and 8 warnings on compiling base product. This system was a vanilla version with no code modifications. We also intsalled this CU on a system with AX Feature Pack  and we got around 70 errors on compiling the base product. Any idea why this errors could be occurring, especially when there are no customizations on the system?

@Archana type "axutil list" in the AX 2012 management shell - are you sure you have no usr model?

Hello, Archana Prasad MS release AX2012 FP version included KB2606916(CU2) and KB2650968. Then if we install in SQL2012 environemnt, we need to install KB2680186 too.  Here after those three KB patched, AX2012 version number is 6.0.1108.152 So if we install CU3, we don't need to install CU2 as it included. But I don't know whether we still need to install KB2680186 and KB2650968? Any suggestions? Thanks a lot Best Regards Jacky

Some more information about the update sequence would be very welcome. For example: is installing KB2680186 (SQL2012 compatibility) still needed? This fix is not listed on the "hotfixes that are included in the CU3 release". Also the KB2650968 hotfix (needed for RTM to FPK upgrade) is not listed as well. So the big question: when wanting to slipstream CU3 in the installation media, what should be the content of the updates folder?

Hi I have tried to slipstream the CU3 (both with the 2 current KB and also removing them) but I always get errors when I install. But if I install the FP first and then directly CU3, it's ok. I will try to find the log from the last attempt and post the error here.

Hello, I noticed that the method transactionCurrencySalesAmt() for ProjectAccountingDistribution table was delivered with CU03. It's a little bit strange because there exists already another transactionCurrencySalesAmount() - the most complete and perfect one. Can somebody provide more details on this issue? Thanks in advance.

@Fredrik, I got the same issue and it seem to be db server related as it works fine on a local test server. The only difference I can see is that the problem db server has default Latin1_General_CI_AS and the working server SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. The version is also different 10.50.1790.0 vs 10.50.2500.0.

Hello, I have a quick question about AX 2009 > 2012 upgrade paths.  Is it possible to directly upgrade from AX 2009 SP1 to AX 2012 Feature Pack with Cumulative Update 3 (CU3)?  Or do you have to upgrade to AX 2012 Feature Pack first and then separately upgrade to CU3? Regards, Ash Kumar

I have now tested on a SQL 2008 R2 server with one SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS instance and one Latin1_General_CI_AS. The slipstream works on CP1 and not the other. What is up with this, no one using slipstream?

@Jonas: I faces the exact same problem you do. The slipstream process is really awesome, but if it doesnt work as expected it is of no use.....Personaly i install the base FPK (including the SQL 2012 hotfix package), when this is installed correctly, i install CU3 right afterwards with the AxUpdate.exe process. When this is finished (it is succesful in all selected colations i used until now) i start the compile, CIL compile etc. Conclusion: slipstreaming CU3 is not working as expected.
