Free Dirt (SQL Launch)
I haven't gotten a chance to write a new blog entry since I returned from the SQL 2005 launch in San Francisco. The main entertainment (Cheap Trick and the Orange County Choppers guys) was fun but the highlight of the evening was AC/DShe, an all-girl AC/DC cover band. They totally rocked! While it was a lot of fun talking to customers and seeing all of the hoopla, it was a little anti-climactic as our team really haven't done much on SQL 2005 for a couple of months now and I'd mentally moved on.
So, what are we up to now? We're deep in the planning for the next version of SQL Server (codenamed "Katmai"). We're also addressing any post RTM issues for inclusion in the first service pack. No dates available on either of these items yet.
One more item: There are three new white papers available for RS 2005. I know that lots of people have especially been waiting for the one on capacity planning. Here are the links:
