To connect to a printer published in Active Directory

Find the printer you want to connect to. For instructions on how to search for a printer, see Related Topics.
In the details pane, right-click the printer you want to use, and then click Connect, or double-click the printer name from the list.

Notes

You can search for printers in Active Directory only if you are logged on to a Windows Server 2003 family or Windows 2000 domain, and your client is running Windows XP Professional, Windows 2000, Windows 95, or Windows 98.
Windows 95 and Windows 98 clients must run the directory service to query Active Directory.
Windows NT 4.0 clients can connect to a shared printer on a print server by browsing My Network Places, or by using the Add Printer Wizard.
