Install an ATM adapter

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

To install an ATM adapter

  • In most cases, if your ATM network adapter hardware supports Plug and Play, your adapter is automatically detected and installed. For more information, see Hardware.

Notes

  • After your ATM adapter is recognized and installed, ATM services are installed and available. By default, the connection is set up as a LAN emulation client (LEC). To view or configure additional services, right-click your ATM connection in Network Connections, and then click Properties.

  • If your ATM hardware does not support Plug and Play detection, contact your adapter vendor for updated installation software and information about installing your adapter. For more information about installing hardware that does not support Plug and Play, see Hardware.

  • To provide end-to-end connectivity, you must configure a permanent virtual circuit (PVC) on the ATM adapter at each end station. You must also configure a PVC on each ATM device (for example, router, ATM switch, and DSLAM) connected between the end stations. For information about configuring a PVC on ATM devices, please see the manufacturers' documentation.

Information about functional differences

  • Your server might function differently based on the version and edition of the operating system that is installed, your account permissions, and your menu settings. For more information, see Viewing Help on the Web.
