Viewing extensions to snap-ins

Applies To: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with SP2

 

To view extensions to snap-ins

  1. Click Start, go to Additional Programs or All Programs, go to Administrative Tools, and then click the console file name.

  2. In the Add/Remove Snap-in dialog box, go to Snap-ins added to: and select the snap-in you want to use.

  3. Click the Extensions tab.

  4. Extensions will be displayed in the Available extensions box.

  5. Extensions from other snap-ins can be displayed from selections in the Snap-ins that can be extended: item list.

Notes

  • You must be in author mode to view the Add/Remove snap-ins menu.

  • By default, user added snap-ins are saved in Administrative Tools (%SystemDrive%/Documents and Settings/%UserName%/Start/Programs/Administrative Tools). They may be saved elsewhere at the user's discretion.

  • To open the console file in author mode, right-click the console file name and select Author.

  • In the opened MMC console, click File. From the drop-down menu, select Add/Remove Snap-in.

  • The Add/Remove snap-in menu is not available in any of the user modules.
