Customize Help and Support

Applies To: Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2012 R2

When you customize Windows® Help and Support, you can add your own Help topics, links to additional kinds of support, and contact information for your customers. You can also index your topics so that they are available as search results in the Help collection.

By customizing Help and Support, you provide your customers with the content they need to solve problems and learn more about their PCs. When customers find the content they need for their PC and their scenario, they don't need to call for support; instead, they build confidence in their PC and in the manufacturer who provided the Help.

In Windows 8 you use XHTML, a standards-based language, to author Help content, a .zip file to collect it, and an index file to manage the content and integrate it into the entire Help collection.

To add custom content to the Home, Escalation, and Browse pages, you can customize the sample files included for each page.
