Deployment Manifests for Office Solutions
A deployment manifest is an XML file that describes the deployment settings of an Office solution and identifies the current application version.
The Office development in Visual Studio uses the ClickOnce deployment manifest schema defined in the ClickOnce Deployment Manifest reference.
Remarks
The deployment manifest file for Office solutions identifies the current version and other deployment settings. It references the application manifest, which describes the current version of the solution and all of the files that are contained in the solution.
File Name Syntax
The name of a deployment manifest file must end with the .vsto extension. Although it is a standard ClickOnce deployment manifest, the extension differs to enable the Visual Studio Tools for Office runtime to handle the file.
