How to: Copy Project Level Items

New: 5 December 2005

This topic describes how to copy objects such as data sources, data source views, and packages within an Integration Services project or between Integration Services projects. The other types of Business Intelligence Development Studio projects, Reporting Services and Analysis Services, also include data sources and data source views, and you can copy data sources and data source views from these projects to an Integration Services project. To copy between projects, the project must be part of the same Business Intelligence Development Studio solution. For more information, see Building Solutions and Integration Services Projects and Introducing Business Intelligence Development Studio.

To copy project level items

  1. In Business Intelligence Development Studio, open the Integration Services project or solution that you want to work with.

  2. Expand the project and item folder to copy from.

  3. Right-click the item and click Copy.

  4. Right-click the Integration Services project to copy to and click Paste.

The items are automatically copied to the correct folder: Data Sources, Data Source Views, or SSIS Packages. If you copy items to the Integration Services project that are not packages, data sources, or data source views, the items are copied to the Miscellaneous folder.
