How to: Assign a Job to a Job Category (SQL Server Management Studio)

This topic describes how to assign Microsoft SQL Server Agent jobs to job categories. You can assign jobs to build-in job categories, or you can create a user-defined job category and then assign jobs to it.

To assign a job to a job category

  1. In Object Explorer, expand SQL Server Agent, expand Jobs, right-click the job you want to edit, and then click Properties.

  2. In the Category list, select the job category you want to assign to the job.
