Explore Data Dialog Box (SSAS)

Use the Explore Data dialog box in Business Intelligence Development Studio to view sampled data for a selected object, such as a table or view. You can display the Explore Data dialog box by:

  • Right-clicking a table or view in the Diagram pane of Data Source View Designer and selecting Explore Data.
  • Right-clicking a table or view in the Data Source View pane on the Cube Structure tab of Cube Designer and selecting Explore Data.
  • Right-clicking a table or view in the Data Source View pane on the Dimension Structure tab of Dimension Designer and selecting Explore Data.
  • Right-clicking a table or view in the Data Source View pane on the Mining Structure tab of Data Mining Model Designer and selecting Explore Data.

The Explore Data dialog box contains the tabs listed in the following table.

Table

Use this page to display sample data from the selected object in a tabular format. For more information about this tab, see Table (Explore Data Dialog Box) (SSAS).

Pivot Table

Use this page to display sample data from the selected object in a multidimensional format using the Microsoft Office PivotTable control. For more information about this tab, see Pivot Table (Explore Data Dialog Box) (SSAS).

Chart

Use this page to display sample data from the selected object in a set of charts. For more information about this tab, see Chart (Explore Data Dialog Box) (SSAS).

Pivot Chart

Use this page to display sample data from the selected object in a multidimensional chart using the Microsoft Office PivotChart control. For more information about this tab, see Pivot Chart (Explore Data Dialog Box) (SSAS).

Sampling options

Click to display the Data Exploration Options dialog box and change the sampling options for the Explore Data dialog box. For more information about the Data Exploration Options dialog box, see Data Exploration Options Dialog Box (SSAS).

Resample data

Click to sample data and reload the Explore Data dialog box.

Generate named query

Click to display the Generate Named Query dialog box and create a named query based on the chart displayed in the Pivot Chart tab. For more information about the Generate Named Query dialog box, see Generate Named Query Dialog Box (SSAS).
