How to: Derive a Template from a Trace File or Trace Table (SQL Server Profiler)
This topic describes how to create a trace template from an existing trace file or table by using SQL Server Profiler.
To derive a template from a trace file or trace table
Open the trace file or trace table on which you want to base your template. For more information, see How to: Open a Trace File (SQL Server Profiler) or How to: Open a Trace Table (SQL Server Profiler).
On the File menu, point to Save As, and then click Trace Template.
Type a name or select one from the list. Click OK.
Note
If you select an existing template file, you are asked if you want to overwrite the file.
