New Help Viewer
The Help Viewer for SQL Server 2005 Books Online is based on the Help Viewer technology being introduced with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. This integrates the help experience of SQL Server 2005 developers with the help experience they have in Visual Studio.
The Help Viewer is extended to support SQL Server features. SQL Server readers can filter their searches on SQL Server languages, such as Transact-SQL and Multidimensional Expressions (MDX), or on SQL Server technologies such as the Database Engine. The new "How Do I" feature gives readers the ability to select from a menu of commonly performed tasks to quickly drill down to the documentation for those tasks. Readers can also extend their information searches to include sources of SQL Server information on the Web. The Ask a Question feature links users to the SQL Server forums in the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN).

New Tutorials
SQL Server 2005 Books Online also includes new tutorials that help new users understand SQL Server features and quickly become productive in using the product. For more information, see Tutorials.
Role-Based Navigation
Books Online content has been written for people operating in five different roles: architect, administrator, developer, information worker, and analyst. To identify the role or roles to which a topic applies, look to the screen tip at the right side of the topic title (Roles for this topic…). Additional role-based assistance is included in the various "InfoCenters" included in SQL Server Books Online. InfoCenters are technology-specific topics that guide you to the information and tasks that are most important for being successful in a given role. For example, the Analysis Services Administrator InfoCenter has links to the information that is important for Analysis Services administrators.
