1The Dedicated Administrator Connection feature for SQL Server Express Edition is supported with the trace flag 7806. For more information about trace flags, see the "Trace Flags (Transact-SQL)" topic in SQL Server 2005 Books Online.

2This feature requires SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition and is only available for 64-bit SQL Server 2005, and for 32-bit SQL Server when AWE is enabled.

3This feature is supported in all editions of SQL Server 2005, except that indexed view-to-query matching by the Query Optimizer is supported only in Enterprise Edition and Developer Edition. Indexed views can be created in all editions of SQL Server 2005, and queried by name using the NOEXPAND hint.

4 SQL Server Express or SQL Server Express with Advanced Services can exchange Service Broker messages with other editions of SQL Server. Messages between two instances of SQL Server Express or SQL Server Express with Advanced Services must be routed through another edition of SQL Server. For example, SQL Server Standard Edition or SQL Server Enterprise Edition.

5This feature is available in SQL Server 2005 SP2 and later versions.

1If an instance of WG is used as a Publisher, it supports a maximum of 25 subscriptions to all merge publications and 5 subscriptions to all transactional publications. It supports an unlimited number of subscriptions to snapshot publications.

2You cannot configure SQL Server 2005 Express Edition or SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services as a Publisher or Distributor for any type of replication. However, SQL Server 2005 Express Edition or SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services can be a Subscriber, and merge replication allows changes to be replicated in both directions between a Publisher and Subscriber.

3 SQL Server 2005 Express Edition or SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services do not support queued updating using pull subscriptions. It does support queued updating using push subscriptions and immediate updating using push or pull subscriptions (immediate updating requires that Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator (MS DTC) be running on the same computer as the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition or SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services instance).

4Replication supports 32-bit and 64-bit versions of SQL Server in the same topology. All replication features are supported on the 64-bit version with the following considerations:

  • Push subscriptions from a 64-bit Distributor require the appropriate 64-bit OLEDB provider or ODBC driver at the Distributor; pull subscriptions from a 64-bit Subscriber require the appropriate 64-bit provider or driver at the Subscriber. For more information about push and pull subscriptions, see Subscribing to Publications.
  • To use Windows Synchronization Manager on a 64-bit Subscriber that is running in Windows on Windows mode (WOW), you must launch the executable mobsync.exe directly from the \Windows\Syswow64 directory, rather than from the Start menu. Launching the executable directly ensures the correct version is used. For more information about WOW, see Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2005. For more information about Windows Synchronization Manager, see Windows Synchronization Manager.
  • Transformable push subscriptions from a 64-bit Distributor are not supported, because the necessary 64-bit Data Transformation Services (DTS) components are not available. Pull subscriptions from a 32-bit installation of SQL Server 2005 should work with a 64-bit Publisher or Distributor. For more information about transformable subscriptions, see Transforming Published Data.
