How to: Uninstall Notification Services

If you are permanently deleting Notification Services, you should delete your instances of Notification Services. If you are upgrading instances of Notification Services to a new version of Microsoft SQL Server, leave your instances in place and following the Notification Services upgrade instructions. You do not need to uninstall Notification Services 2.0 to migrate to SQL Server 2005.

To uninstall Notification Services

  1. Stop all instances of Notification Services that use the version you are removing.

  2. (Optional) Delete your instances of Notification Services.

    Do not delete instances if you are upgrading them to a newer version of SQL Server. For more information about deleting instances, see Deleting Instances of Notification Services.

  3. From the Start menu, select Control Panel, and then select Add or Remove Programs.

  4. Select Microsoft SQL Server 2005, and then click Change.

  5. On the Component Selection page, select Notification Services.

  6. Click Next, and then follow the instructions on subsequent wizard pages.

  7. When the Change or Remove Instance page appears, select Change Installed Components.

  8. Click Notification Services and then select Entire feature will be unavailable.

  9. Click Next, and then follow the instructions on subsequent wizard pages.
