About Application Manifest Files

  Microsoft Speech Technologies Homepage

The Speech Web Application Project Wizard creates default files for a new speech application. One of the files it creates is an application manifest file—manifest.xml—that specifies settings required to deploy the application to Microsoft Speech Server 2004 (MSS).

These settings include:

  • The Start page to load for an application.

This information is used by Speech Application Deployment Service (SADS), which manages application deployment for MSS.

  • Application resources to preload and cache, for improved performance.

This information is used by Speech Engine Services (SES), to ensure that the specified resources are fetched and loaded into available engines before they are required by the user.

See the following topics for more information.

Explains the entries in the default manifest file.

Describes how to modify the manifest file for non-English or multi-language applications.
