Heatmaps Compare

Heatmaps Compare feature helps you compare two Heatmaps. Using Heatmaps Compare, you can, but aren't limited to:

  • Interact with two heatmaps side by side.
  • Compare two versions of the same page, say Click/Scroll/Area maps together.
  • Compare user segments, user behavior over a time frame.
  • Compare test campaigns to see which page is getting better results.
  • Watch a user journey from one page to another. For example, view the Click map for two different pages.
  • Identify user behavior patterns for the same page with different user segments.

How to use Heatmaps compare?

  1. Choose View heatmap from the list of popular pages.

    Select view heatmap.

  2. Select the Compare button from the top-right corner.

    Select 'compare' button.

  3. Select another URL to start comparing from the list of popular pages, as shown. You can choose to compare the same or different URL. You can also select a URL with or without parameters.

  4. As you select a URL, you can view the two Heatmaps simultaneously.

Compare mode features

Note

  • The time frame filter is set to 'last 3 days' by default.
  • To better understand the differences between two heatmaps, they are marked in different colors. The left pane is blue, and the right pane is in pink color.
  1. In the corresponding section, you can apply and compare:

    Compare View filters and segments.

  2. Expand (>>) to view or collapse (<<) to close Click/Scroll/Area data.

  3. View the total page views and number of clicks for each Heatmap in the bottom panel.

  4. As you adjust heat opacity in the bottom right, you can only view the transparency of heat in a Click map. If you're comparing two click maps, the opacity is adjusted for both the heatmaps.

  5. At any point, you can Clear any side of the Heatmap and compare it with a different URL. This also clears all the applied filters.

Exit compare mode

  • Select the close icon on any Heatmap to exit the compare mode.

  • You're out of compare mode once you move to a different vertical such as Recordings or Dashboard and change a filter or segment.

  • Once you refresh the page, you're out of compare mode.

Compare mode limitations

  • 'View recordings' aren't available in compare mode for a click map.

  • Compare mode works only within a project. Heatmaps from different projects can’t be compared.

  • 'Save as segment' option isn't available in compare mode.

  • Share and Download options are unavailable in compare mode.
