Operational Efficiency – London Boroughs save £11m with shared technology services
Havering and Newham London borough councils are set to save more than £11m between them by sharing technology support services.
The two boroughs are already delivering a shared ICT vision by sharing the expertise and leadership of CIO, Geoff Connell, and standardising on both Microsoft for the desktop and Oracle for ERP across the operations of both London authorities.
Since the announcement at the end of 2010, Newham has confirmed revenue savings in 2010/11 of around £800,000 – and that it is on track to save a further £800,000 in the current financial year.
Geoff Connell’s team is deploying Microsoft Dynamics CRM, SharePoint Server 2010 for web and Biztalk for Master Data Management. They are also using a Microsoft Gold Partner product, Multivue from Visionware, for consistency and sharing licence discounts and implementation skills.
