Discover the future of a digital Civil Service at Civil Service Live 2013
On Tuesday and Wednesday the Microsoft Public Sector team will be at Civil Service Live 2013 in London with a whole host of partners and solutions to demonstrate the real life benefits of IT innovation.
This year’s theme is ‘Be Exceptional’ with the intent of cross-government collaboration, sharing ideas, and developing skills and capabilities to inspire your work, whatever your role.
Our presence at CSL 2013 will be centred around two main ‘hubs’ – the Understanding our World hub (in partnership with Esri UK) and The Way We Work hub (run by Digital by Default).
Also on the Understanding our World hub will be: Content and Code with collaboration and portal solutions, and Steljies showing their collaboration solutions and Optevia showing the latest innovations in customer relationship management.
Each hub will be running a number of workshops and demonstrations. Here’s a small description of what each hub is about plus news of the panel discussions taking place on each hub…
Understanding our World hub
Effective policy implementation relies on an in–depth understanding driven by location awareness and analytics. Now, Digital by Default is being rapidly adopted as the key mechanism for sharing this understanding and improving transactions with citizens. This year, we will demonstrate how various departments are exploiting both the power of location intelligence and the potential of the digital platform. Demonstrators include Public Health England, DEFRA, Transport for London, and the Office for National Statistics. The panel: Government Reimagined
Wednesday July 3rd, 11:00AM, Conference Room 3
Microsoft is hosting a lively panel discussion at Civil Service Live next week that will feature leaders from across local and central Government that have successfully delivered transformational change.
You will hear Public Sector leaders talk about the changes that have been delivered, and the journeys they have taken their customers, organisations and teams through. You will leave with new insights and actionable, practical steps that you can take back to your organisation.

The way we work hub (run by Digital by Default)
Modernising IT and workplaces for the 21st Century is one of the key priorities for the Civil Service Reform Plan. Try out modern working environments and technologies – and learn about how changes in access and security will make it easier to work with colleagues and on the move.
We will be at the hub with a large selection of devices to demonstrate how our collaboration and productivity cloud services can support a modern IT environment in the Civil Service.

A lively panel discussion looking at future work environments including design and innovation in creating workspaces for the future. The group will explore the challenges and benefits of innovation, and approaches to overcoming challenges.
