Bringing to life new technology in the working environment
As you may have read on our blog last week, Microsoft will have a significant presence at this year’s Civil Service Live event in London – 2-3rd July. We will be there alongside Esri, Government departments and SME partners on our ‘Understanding our World’ hub.
Here is a quick look at who will be joining us, as well as the subjects they will be covering…
Understanding our Environment
DEFRA will demonstrate how their data and that of other departments can be seamlessly brought together and made accessible to members of the public and government more widely, in an accessible and engaging way.
Understanding Health
Public Health England will showcase how location analytics can inform decision making, and how this understanding can be shared with the public and other external stakeholders in a transparent and informative way.
Understanding Communities
We will show how UK Census data can be shared and brought to life through the use of interactive maps and simple tools made accessible through PCs, Tablets and Smartphones.
Understanding Transport
See how Transport for London (TfL) harness ‘big data’ to deliver real-time road network monitoring of vehicle and pedestrian movements. Removing the need for time consuming surveys or expensive infrastructure, TfL’s approach is to draw upon real-time SatNav and Mobile Phone data.
The Hub for understanding ‘where next’ for Government
The hub will also feature the work of other Departments embracing ‘Digital by Default’ approaches to enhance and streamline the services they provide to the public, including the Department for Work and Pensions.
The demonstrations which we will be running throughout the event will show how government data – much of it open data – comes to life when combined with Esri and Microsoft technology.
