New to Windows 7 try this . . .

In the task bar of your new or existing Windows 7 Operating System you will see Icons, much like we used to have the ever optional "Quick Bar". If there is a program that you use alot try right clicking on the application in the "All Programs" menu and "Pin to Taskbar".

Now you will see that icon on the taskbar even when you boot up. (No the program is not starting up, think of it as quick access.) You can move or drag that icon into any position on that bar (left or right). Take note of its position in relevance to the Windows Menu (previously known as the Start button) now count its location (in this instance we will assume you put it in position "3" (meaning 3rd icon from the windows button).

 While holding down your Windows key on the key board push the relevant button that the icon is positioned at, in our case "3". So, Windows Button + 3 opened our application without using the mouse. . .
