    I'am under Internet Explorer 7.
    I obtain ERROR 1609 when i install Window Defender beta 2 at the end of the installation.
    Why???

    When I install this application I get the castle icon with a ! on it.  When I try to check for updates, I get:

    Windows Defender was unable to complete the update: 0x80070422. The services cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it.

    I tried removing and reinstalling and got the same result.

    I also don't see any info on this error anywhere (i.e. microsoft search or google/microsoft search).

    error message: failed removal 0x80508026 for Spyware Strike, Netsky and Wheneverusave. Why?

    DO NOT INSTALL DEFENDER!! It is not good. It has not got any of the features Anti-Spyware Beta 1 has got. It is just three windows put together - all it does is scanning - no features which made Beta 1 so good.

    This is very very poor. Until Microsoft sorts it out - DO NOT INSTALL!!

    What has happened to Anti-spyware? Oh My gosh they messed it up?!!!??!?!?!
    Where are the track erasers, where are the check points??? nooooooooo.
    What have you done to this once Microsoft jewel? It seems like with Defender you sat someone in the room for 1 hour. Then you taken the end product and put it up for download.
    Its like 3 pages stuck together. Feature less and boring. You can not have it software and it wont make a difference.

    Oh well - lets all go back to Adaware - it was good whislt it lasted!

    Like the software and great gui. Just one concern, the updates rely on having access to Windows Update whereas with previous versions it got them from another site. In my enterprise environment our GPO policy does not allow access to windowsupdate. I don't want to change the GPO, so is there another way to get the software to obtain latest signatures?
