.NET Framework 4 availability on Server Core

We have been hearing your questions about whether .NET Framework 4 will be available on Server Core. I’m happy to announce that in Q1 of 2011, there will be a release of .NET Framework 4 supporting installation on the Server Core installation option. This will require Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, which has publicly been stated to release in Q1. Like in .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.5, with .NET Framework 4, you will be able to build and run managed applications that use ASP.NET, WCF, WF, Windows Services and Console Applications.

That is excellent news!  Now we can migrate our applications to .Net 4 for all releases.

Is Powershell going to be running in .NET 4.0 on 2008 R2 SP1?

Very good, but it would have been much better 9 months ago ;-) We had to replace our Server Core installations because the switch to .NET 4 was much more important to our development than Server Core was to our operations. I would strongly suggest at least a clear statement whether a new .NET framework version will be available at all on a server core platform, and kind of a roadmap.

Good to hear that, seems like Exchange 2010 Sp1 would install on Windows 2008 R2 Sp1 core edition now ?

It's past Q1, but all I can find is .Net 4 server core version for 64 bit, is there one for 32 bit?

@StephenCarroll I'm sure you realised this sometime after asking but, as Server 2k8R2(+SP1) is 64-bit only, a 32-bit version of Core.Net4 makes no sense. If you /do/ have a 32-bit 2k8 install, it's not 2k8R2, which is a requirement of Core.Net4
