Determining Project 2007 version using VBA

For those of you on the on SP2 webcast this morning, a question that we hear often around updates come up - how can I check which version of the project client everyone has? One of our consultants also said to get the full capacity of reprots available you need Microsoft Office Professional. I haven't found documentation to support this. Is this true?
