Where to buy high-resolution digital music?

I have been looking for a place to buy digital music which will be either uncompressed (lossless compression is fine) or compressed at very hign bit rate (256KBps WMA minimum). Let me know if you know one. I honestly don't understand why I should be paying 99 cents per track at 128KB when I can buy a CD. Say, Me & Mr. Johnson by Eric Clapton is $13.49 with free shipping at Amazon. It consists of 14 tracks which I will be then able to rip at at very high rate or even uncompressed.

Yeah, but if you buy the CD, then you don't have any DRM on it, and... no, wait, that's good too, isn't it?

Or if you buy a CD you find out it has some "protection" that it may only be rippable with some drives.

And I wonder what's the deal with the allofmp3 site, they have some "good ideas" there which western shops would most likely avoid due to legal issues difficulties.
