VDI Solution on the Azure

This article will describe how to deploy VDI solution on Windows Azure.

For deployment VDI solution on Windows Azure, we at least need one Session Host, one Connection Broker, one Web Access, one Gateway and one Domain Controller role. So I create two VMs on Windows Azure.

For the cost issue, I create an Extra Small Size VM as a DC and a Small Size VM as an SH, CB, WA and GW all in one server.

Now, we can start it.

  1. Create VMs in Windows Azure

Create two VMs in Windows Azure as usual. One named RoccoAD and One named RoccoRDS. But, remember, put them in a same Cloud Service. So that, they can communicate with each other via internal IP other than Virtual IP.

  1. Create a domain

Remote access to the Extra Small Size VM and Add Domain Services role in the server manager.

After that, run dcpromo.exe to create a Domain named RoccoRen.com.

  1. Deploy RDS Services

In the RoccoRDS server, open server manager, click Add Roles and Features. Then open a wizard.

Then choose Remote Desktop Services Installation.

In the next step, choose Quick Start. This will put all the services in a server.

Then choose Session-based desktop deployment.

In the remaining steps, only Next and then Next. In the last step, click deploy.

Now, a basic VDI solution is done.
