Manage Windows Server 2012 Remotely with RSAT tools for Windows 8 RTM

UPDATE: Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 8 RTM are now available at the link below!

The Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) for Windows 8 RTM is now available for download.  This toolkit for Windows 8 RTM provides the full suite of Windows Server 2012 management tools, including the new Server Manager GUI-based multi-server management tool, for use on a remote management PC.

In addition to the RSAT kit, the RTM version of the Windows Management Framework 3.0 (WMF3) was also released this week for Windows Server 2008 SP2, Windows Server 2008 R2 SP2 and Windows 7 SP1 PCs.  WMF3 includes PowerShell 3.0, an updated WMI & WinRM, and a new Server Manager CIM package provider.  The new Server Manager CIM package provider can be installed on Windows Server 2008 SP2 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 servers to permit them to be remotely managed via the new Windows Server 2012 Server Manager tool - either from a Windows Server 2012 console or using Server Manager from the above RSAT kit.

Keith

Hi Greg, These tools are currently available for installation on Windows 8 Release Preview.  The RTM tools that will install on Windows 8 RTM will be available very soon.  I'll provide an update when the RTM tools are available. In terms of Failover Cluster management tools, Failover Cluster Manager in this RSAT kit will only support Windows Server 2012 clusters.  The Windows PowerShell cmdlet set supports Windows Server 2012 and WS08R2.  MSClus and Cluster.EXE support Windows Server 2012, WS08R2 and WS08. Here's a link to the full list of tools with a support matrix for each server operating system that may be helpful: social.technet.microsoft.com/.../2202.remote-server-administration-tools-rsat-for-windows-vista-windows-7-windows-8-windows-server-2008-windows-server-2008-r2-and-windows-server-2012-dsforum2wiki.aspx

Thanks Mike!  I believe the product team must be working on releasing the RTM version of these tools, which is why the link is temporarily unavailable.  I'll post an update on this page when the RTM version is available. Keith

Hi, Please note that for the last couple of days the URL/link to the RSAT download is not working.  I get a page with the error "We are sorry, the page you requested cannot be found. The URL may be misspelled or the page you're looking for is no longer available." Thanks.

Are these the RTM tools as the download page says Release Preview?  Also will Failover Cluster Manager support the 2008 R2 Clusters?
