Silverlight Rocks MIX07
*** Updated so the images come thru ***
So, I got back from MIX last week and had to show off my new Silverlight tattoo...well not really, but it looks cool. You can create your own tattoo at the new Silverlight.Net beta samples site here.
In case you haven't heard, Silverlight is the new name for what we have been referring to as "WPF/E" for a long time now - and it promises to really change the landscape of the Web 2.0 world. There were actually 2 big announcements about the versions of Silverlight - one is the beta version that is out now that supports interaction via JavaScript and an early alpha release that will allow you to code using a portable version of the .NET runtime. For a look at some really cool demos of the Alpha versions of Silverlight take a look here.
Another highlight at the event was running into an old acquaintance from South Florida - John Bruno - who is now a lead on the Microsoft Windows Live Spaces team. He presented a session on "Developing with Windows Live Spaces" - his talk was very interesting and focused on how you can now communicate with the SpacesAPI to create some interesting gadgets and mash-ups. You can find recordings of his session along with all the MIX sessions at https://sessions.visitmix.com
Stay tuned, as we are preparing for a Florida "Re-Mix" tour very soon - where we will be re-delivering some of the great session content from MIX - with a few surprises.
It was also great to see Elvis again - although he seemed very busy interviewing the MIX attendees...
