What's new for developers in the 2007 Microsoft Office System?
Hi everyone!
I had to stop blogging for a while because we were working on building an improved MSDN Office Developer Center. However, I will blog a lot starting from today to let you know about resources, developer tips, and best practices for the 2007 Microsoft Office System.
The 2007 Microsoft Office System Beta 2 was announced today! We have been working a lot on creating new Office 2007 content and to redesign the site and here are some pointers to resources you should see!
Check out..
- The home page for the recently published articles.
- The cool Office Virtual Tour screencasts to learn more about how to get started with 2007 Office System development.
- The Future versions page, where you will find all resources related to Office 2007.
- The Community page, blogs page, and videos page.
- The new improved product and technologies developer portals.
- The new Windows SharePoint Services Developer Center.
- Browse through the site to find new articles, downloads, SDKs, videos, and blogs related to specific products and technologies. If you get lost in the site, see the Site Map.
- Register for the Beta Experience for Microsoft Office and Windows Vista.
I will be blogging shortly about specific content items. In the meantime enjoy!

Hello,
I was toying around with Office 2007 Beta & was unable to find Research feature that existed in Office 2003. Is that discontinued? If so, what should MS customers with investment in custom research services do? Is VSTO the option that we should be looking at instead?
Thanks,

Tg. Research Pane is still there - it is just different to get to it. You can find it in the "Review" ribbon. The "Research" button is right next to "Spelling and Grammar". It will toggle the Research Task Pane on and off for you.
A faster way to get to it is just like in Office 2003 - Alt-Click on a word in your document and it will turn on the Research Task Pane for you.
