Microsoft Annual Boston DigiGirlz Event

Last week, Microsoft's Northeast Sales Division held its annual DigiGirlz event at the Microsoft Technology Center in Waltham.  DigiGirlzis a national diversity program sponsored by Microsoft throughout the United States aimed at introducing young women to careers in technology.  Sixty high school girls were selected to attend the event from Boston Public Schools and many suburban-area high schools in Massachusetts.  Laura Mulcahy, senior vice president of Business Solutions for TJX was the special guest keynote.  Mulcahy kicked off career discussions with Microsoft women employees who explained their varied tech career experiences.  Throughout the day, girls participated several activities, including robotics demonstrations courtesy of Aldebaran Robotics and First Robotics.  In addition, they were presented with an introduction to coding and game design with hands-on labs, Kinect activities, internet safety and branding sessions, and product demonstrations in our Envisioning Center.

On March 30, Microsoft will hold a DigiGirlz day at our One Memorial  Research and Development office in Cambridge, MA, where we can continue to inspire young women to pursue careers in technology.
