Microsoft iSCSI Target 3.3 Released

So this is not a normal topic for this blog.

I will be back soon with some more content but things are fairly busy at the minute in our development cycle! I wanted to share some news from our team (Windows File Server) about one of our technologies which is the Microsoft iSCSI Software Target. This has been available for production use use as part of Windows Storage Server since early 2007. Storage Server is a version of Windows Server that is available only as an OEM branded appliance. It has also been available for development and test use by MSDN and TechNet subscribers starting in May 2009. However, until now, there was no way to use the Microsoft iSCSI Software Target in production on a regular server running Windows Server 2008 R2. As of Monday this has been made publicly available to all users of Windows Server 2008 R2

Get all the details, including download instructions and FAQ at my one of my colleagues (Jose) blog:

This is very useful for the MP Author.  Why you ask?  Well using the iSCSI target you can easily set up a cluster in a single Hyper-V host with no external storage so you can test your MP behavior on a cluster.  This makes it much more accessible for folks.  I will follow up with a quick article on how to set this up.

Enjoy and kudos to our iSCSI Target team to get this delivered!
