Disable local Exchange Server mailboxes

You cannot uninstall Exchange Server if mailboxes are enabled. You must complete the following procedure to disable mailboxes.

To disable mailboxes

  1. Start the Exchange Management Console.

  2. In the console tree, expand Recipient Configuration, and then click Mailbox.

  3. For each mailbox in the Mailbox pane, right-click the mailbox, and then click Disable.
