Configure the FTP Server to Recognize the External Firewall IP Address

Applies To: Windows 7, Windows Server 2008, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista

When you use a firewall in your network, and configure FTPS for your FTP server, you should configure the external IP address of your firewall. This is necessary because firewall filters will not be able to intercept SSL data and modify responses accordingly. This is also necessary when your firewall does not filter packets.

Note

This setting configures the FTP server to recognize your external firewall address; it does not affect settings for the firewall.

To configure the FTP server to recognize the external firewall IP address

  1. Open IIS Manager.

  2. In the Connections pane, select the server node.

  3. In Features View, double-click FTP Firewall Support.

  4. In the External IP Address of Firewall box, type the IPv4 address of your firewall.

  5. In the Actions pane, click Apply.
