Zone Aging/Scavenging Properties Dialog Box

When you configure the following settings for server properties, the settings apply as the default value for all zones. When you configure these settings at a specific zone, the settings apply only to that zone.

Scavenge stale resource records |
Specifies whether stale resource records should be removed from the Domain Name System (DNS) database. |
No-refresh interval |
Specifies an interval of time, in either days or hours. When a resource record is refreshed, it is not refreshed again until this interval of time has elapsed. |
Refresh |
Specifies the minimum time that records are expected to remain in the DNS database after the no-refresh interval expires. This interval should not be smaller than the maximum refresh period for any resource records. In most networks, this interval corresponds to the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) lease renewal interval. For DHCP servers running Windows Server 2008, the default lease renew interval is four days. |
