Adding a Domain to a Zone

In networks that deploy Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), the Active Directory domain namespace and the Domain Name System (DNS) namespace are usually managed together using Active Directory tools.
In some cases, however, you might find it necessary to add a domain to a zone that is not part of your Active Directory namespace. For example, you might want to create a DNS domain that contains alias (CNAME) resource records that point to hosts in different Active Directory domains.
In the case of a zone that is not integrated with AD DS, if you do not want to delegate authority for a subdomain to another server, you can extend the DNS namespace of a zone by adding a domain to the zone.
